Maya x The Cakery, now at HK IFC mall, is the second location of this unique venture, blending the best of both worlds. The bakery shop invites you to experience a world where flavor meets mindfulness. This unique 2-in-1 grab-and-go store is a haven for both the busy individual and the discerning corporate client, offering an exquisite array of coffee and an enticing selection of vegan pastries and desserts.
While The Cakery focuses on offering a premium and natural range of products for celebratory occasions, Maya brings vegan pastries to the forefront, featuring croissants, muffins, danishes, sourdough, and more. Together, they not only serve delicious treats but also champion a lifestyle of health and sustainability.
Taking inspiration from the birdhouse and the brand’s name, MAYA serves as a common ground where people can gather, and find shelter in the chaotic urban jungle like Hong Kong. Building upon the whimsical birdhouse concept, this store is one of the inviting birdhouses nestled within the grand, branching limbs of a Gingko tree.

A Warm Welcome Awaits
The shopfront design is characterized by an elegant arch, reminiscent of a birdhouse, this arch not only serves as a focal point but also symbolizes warmth and community, inviting customers to gather and enjoy. The inner arch is adorned in a unique green brand color of Maya, adding a vibrant touch that reinforces the brand's identity. For signage elements, the shop logo and order sign are incorporated into the space seamlessly with dark bronze metal accents derived from the brand The Cakery.
Despite the constraints of limited protruding size from the shop boundary, we created a custom-made decorative wall lamp that gracefully adorns both sides of the arch, enhancing its delicate appearance. Additionally, integrated recessed lighting within the curved profile further highlights the design, drawing attention to the store.
Crafted entirely from stunning natural material Calacatta Viola marble, the 4-sided counter exudes sophistication and luxury, beautifully complementing the elegant arch and drawing customers in to browse and select their favorites.
Striking Displays and Flexible Menu
There are two areas dedicated to showcasing merchandise effectively. The arch integrates a stylish display shelf that highlights an array of delectable treats. The three inner walls feature open shelves that display the majority of the shop's merchandise, while the backdrop features fluted glass with a mirrored backing, adding depth to the store. Each area of the display is enhanced with different lighting such as display pole lights, LED strips, and rotatable downlights to highlight the products proficiently.
The display shelves are strategically designed with a one-size-fits-all approach that gives flexibility for a wider variety of products to be displayed. Another design feature is a menu display made of tinted glass, it adds a modern touch while creating an open feel, allowing an unobstructed view of the merchandise display behind it. This sleek outlook gives a harmonious blend of functionality with aesthetics.
Adaptive Elegance in Every Detail
This bakery shop overall features a versatile and inviting design that integrates the kitchen and service area. A standout feature is the stainless steel sink that has a removable cover made of accent marble. When not in use, the cover can be placed over the sink to provide additional countertop space, perfect for assembling pastries. The design also maximizes storage solutions, effectively concealing clutter from view. At night, the shop becomes even more enchanting, enhanced by its thoughtfully designed lighting. The blend of delectable treats, warm illumination, and a welcoming atmosphere makes the bakery shop a captivating view after dark.
